TROPICS

I had traveled to the green labyrinth of the tropics.

I had fought to reach those jungle peaks of transient distance.

I had collapsed of exhaustion and babbled malarial delirium at the gates of the beyond.

I had, however, never had a bowl of soup.

THE TWO FORCES

The two forces railed against each other in my dream last night. I slept in perfect equilibrium. My memories however, had desserted me when the sun sank again.

To Be Young. (written 5 years ago)

I was pushed I swear to thee to the very fringes of what I could tolerate. It sometimes all (existence) just feels like an exercise in tolerance. We are lambasted & vilified, heralded and heroicised in one breath. Opinion has become dilluted and we can not longer attain the concentrate.

There are too many thoughts in the west and not enough experiences. I will not be dragged through the muck and I will not be conquered. "Take everything, give nothing back", But of course the sheer weight of my modern guilt would break me. We have the means and opportunities but we refuse them because we can.

I spent years in repair and for what? To be pulled back into the rabble of the crowd. I will not and cannot tolerate my own failure. Others can feel free to do so and it seems this is an opportunity that many are willing to take.

I dont believe there is anything risky about what I am doing. I am consumed with the confidence of my imagination. Fuck the rest of the art students! Its each for his own!

THE JAVAN RHINOCEROS

It lifted it's great head with all the weight of its unbeknownst existence and its turbulent eyes swirled in the blackness of  the night.

Its vision was poor in the dank and darkness of the swamp, even in the light of day when it wallowed remote lagoons and mud holes it could barely see danger coming, and danger always came.

It lumbered through the waterway in which it habitually passed unseen by human eyes every night.

All of a sudden it was disturbed by an almighty flash and broke into a thunderous gallop. Reeds and roots were torn up and the water foamed in panic.

Apart from fleeting glimpses by local woodcutters, the Javan Rhinoceros had remained unseen by men of science for decades until it was captured on camera for the western world to marvel at.

Still only a ghost on a negative, it has passed into the vaults of legend.

No one knows exactly how many survive and for how much longer.

The Chinese medicine man repents not.

The Woes of the Hypersomniac

Those who suffer from Hypersomnia have recurring episodes of excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) which is different from feeling tired due to lack of or interrupted sleep at night.

They are compelled to nap repeatedly during the day, often at inappropriate times such as at work, during a meal, or in conversation.

These daytime naps usually provide no relief from symptoms.

MY COMPANION

From the giant Sequoias of New Zealand to the ancient Bristlecone pines of the Californian dessert.

From the twisted Mangrove swamps of the tropics to the green Bamboo forests of  Tangjiahe.

From the misty Evergreens of the Eastern Arc to the volcanic Flamboyas of Tanzania.

From the English Oaks of olden to the forlorn Caledonian Pines of the Highlands.

From the rain-lashed mountain Ashes of the Pyrenees to the lost White-beams of Catacol.

From the Teak-rows of Trinidad to the resolute Cypresses of the Italian north.

From the Mango groves of Pakistan to the Orange orchards of Seville.

From the snowdrift Larches of Siberia to the holy Palms in the Valley of Meggido.

From the Triassic Tree ferns of the Solomon Islands to the great Cedars of the Mackenzie River basin,

She travelled with me,

my guide,

my companion,

my ghost.

JAMAL 'THE JACKAL' JONES

Coffee pours into a glass like oil slick. A trembling hand seizes it as if it were a necessity. Jamal 'The Jackal' Jones is born again in a house just short of Dalston. Patherine Polish eyes watch silently as the tarot's are laid out.

'This is not your future' says the German. 'This is what is and what has been'. He did his utmost at convincing but Germans cant carry off spiritualism with such a tongue. Jamal told him so.

A great white caucasian glides dirty denimed past the window and his gaze remains for a few violent moments. Jamal remains calm. The German, calmer still.

'Provoke me and awaken the wrath of God' remarks Jamal in a moment of veiled frenzy. The sword of Islam hangs flaccid at his side.

'I was born into war my friend', as the death card flips over.
'This is positive', rasps the German, not fooling anybody.
'Our time is over' says Jamal 'The Jackal' Jones as he disappears out the door from the German forever.

THE VULTURE

I felt a complete abandonment of my senses. I was turning away from familiarity. I marveled at such a description of my own crooked soul. I emancipated my self  from the fear of punishment and reveled in such freedoms.

What would people think of a man so divorced of his morals? Would they think me an animal? I hoped so. I closed my eyes and an image came to me of a man tearing flesh from bone. What species, I couldn't say.

The green eyes of my reflection twinkled at the thought of such cruelty. In a way, I was innocent in my desires, I had become simplified.

Hunting and killing meat, eating meat and putting meat into meat.
